Following Ewhurst's campaign to improve their own very poor broadband
connectivity, BT Openreach recently upgraded Cranleigh Exchange to enable FTTC "superfast"
broadband (24 to 76Mbps download) in the
local area.
Initially the new fibre based services are available in the area served by BT street cabinet number 1 on Guildford Road, but further cabinets will be coming online over the coming weeks.
Faster broadband is thought by many to be critical to the economic recovery, and increasingly influences relocation plans for business and many home owners.
Although the
Ewhurst Community Broadband site currently focusses on progress on the four BT street cabinets serving their village, it does include news on progress in Cranleigh whenever this is made available.
Cranleigh businesses and residents are very welcome to subscribe to
receive updates by email.
The Ewhurst group also asks anyone with further information on progress of the FTTC works in the area served by Cranleigh Exchange to
let them know.
